How we count
what we plant.

A tree is counted when it's in the ground, not when it's pledged.

Every active month of a Remarketly subscription generates a pledge of N trees, where N is determined by the subscriber's plan tier (1 for Starter, 5 for Growth, 20 for Scale, 100 for Enterprise). Pledges are aggregated weekly and disbursed to planting partners on a 30-day rolling cadence.

Partners report back with planting confirmations on a quarterly basis. A tree is only marked planted in the public ledger once the partner submits a planting report containing a GPS coordinate, planting date, and species. Trees marked verified have additionally been spot-checked by a third-party auditor or satellite-monitoring service.

We don't plant one species. We plant biomes.

Single-species reforestation projects are a known anti-pattern — they sequester less carbon long-term, support less biodiversity, and are more vulnerable to pest and disease shocks. Forever's planting mix is biome-appropriate and determined per partner per region:

• Saudi Arabia
  Native Acacia species + jujube under the Saudi Green Initiative's 10-billion-tree commitment.
• Madagascar · Kenya · Nepal
  Mangrove (Eden Reforestation Projects), high-altitude pine and broadleaf, smallholder agroforestry mixes.
• Sub-Saharan Africa
  Fruit-bearing trees + nitrogen-fixers (Trees for the Future) — chosen for both carbon and farmer-livelihood outcomes.
• Yucatán · LatAm
  Tropical hardwoods + cacao agroforestry (Plant for the Planet).
• Egypt
  Biodynamic mixed-orchard plantings (SEKEM) on reclaimed desert land.

IPCC AR6 conversion. Conservative end of the range.

Sequestration estimates use a blended 18 kg CO₂/tree/year average — the conservative end of the IPCC AR6 forestry chapter range for a mixed native species cohort under smallholder management. Faster-growing tropical species can sequester 25-40 kg/year, but we report against the floor.

Cumulative sequestration is reported on a 30-year survival assumption. Tree mortality in years 1-3 is the highest-risk window; partner survival rates are tracked and reported in the Annual Forever Impact Report (first edition Q4 2026).

We do not currently issue or sell carbon credits and do not represent Forever pledges as a substitute for direct emissions reduction. This is additionality in its honest form: planted because someone paid for software, not because someone wanted offsets.

Every customer's pledge maps to Scope 3.

Remarketly Forever activity contributes to a customer's Scope 3 Category 1 (Purchased goods & services) carbon picture under the GHG Protocol. Customers receive an annual Forever Impact Statement they can append to their own ESG reporting, with verifiable third-party citation back to partner planting records.

The statement is generated programmatically each January from the prior year's ledger. Sample fields: trees pledged, trees planted, trees verified, kg CO₂ sequestered (cumulative + annualised), planting countries, and partner mix.

The pledge moves up. Never down.

As partner capacity grows we may raise the trees-per-month ratio for some or all tiers. We never lower it. Customers who subscribed at one ratio continue to plant at that ratio (or higher) for the life of their subscription — so paying customers' historical pledge never silently shrinks behind them.
